Marimba is Like Papyrus

Ok, so I absolutely hate Papyrus. Everyone knows that. But I heard someone using the Marimba alarm sound. Ok, so that to me is like Papyrus. Take a few seconds, and pick another sound.

Oh, and while I’m at it, I’m not too keen on all this keyboard clicking noise being left on these iPhones. I guess that’s what we get opening up the iPhone to the millions of Verizon users.

My Value Coupons

My Value Coupons is a site that really brings the social sharing aspect of saving money to the local advertising market. It was a team effort between two other guys and me. We enjoyed working on it, but got caught up at our “real” jobs. I focused mainly on the wireframes here. I used the 960 grid in OmniGraffle, so it would map nicely to the designer’s mockup and the developer’s framework.

Integrating Prototyping Into Your Design Process

Great article on Boxes and Arrows.

Appropriate Fidelity

?Appropriate fidelity? refers to a level of prototype fidelity that allows you to achieve the goals you?ve set for doing a prototype in the first place. By varying the fidelity of your prototype along the dimensions of visual design and functionality, you make your prototype more effective at achieving some goals and less effective for others.

Custom Fields

Ok, so Blogo comes through again. This time in the form of adding custom fields in the editor. Some of these fancy shmancy new WordPress themes use custom fields to achieve greater control over how information is displayed. I was wondering how Blogo would handle it. I guess pretty easily. :)

Blogo.

I really want to like Blogo. I just have to know it would be better to use than Mars Edit 2 (w/ customized template). I was reading that it was possible to create a custom template in Mars Edit that would basically allow previews that look like they will look on your site. Pretty cool. Blogo, on the other hand, actually does look like your site, because it generates live previews on the fly. As I’m typing this, there is an auto-refreshing preview on my other monitor where Blogo is showing me exactly what will be published on my site. Sweet. Worth $25? I don’t know.

I have 21 days left in my trial. Wonder if I can post 21 consecutive days, and see how it’s going to perform.

Someone should give me $25.

Folk Art = Papyrus

I guess every time I see any kind of typography on “folk art” it’s either Hobo, or my favorite – Papyrus. You’ll notice this time, however, the savvy designer was able to find that Option+Left Arrow combination to kern the F and vowels together in a couple of the signs. Kudos to you.

I <3 Papyrus.
